We must be doing something right

Last saturday morning I overheard a conversation that made me smile.....

Maxwell has had a little trouble lately saying things that aren't completely true. Things like did you get into the candy without asking.. "no Mom, I didn't" while the wrappers on the floor clearly state the opposite. So we have been trying to teach him about being honest, and this is the conversation that followed.....

Maxwell: "Brian can you get me some chocolate cereal"
Brian: "it's all gone, do you want a different kind"
Maxwell: "No it's not... when you say something that's not true, then it's a lie, and your not supposed to tell a lie."
Brian: "You're right you're not supposed to lie, but that wasn't a lie"

Oh Maxwell, now we just need to work on helping him understand that just because he doesn't want to believe what someone is saying is the truth, doesn't make it a lie.

Jungle Adventure

Everyday I try to get the children out to play outside. Somedays it's harder than others to think of new ideas that will keep the children interested and engaged in their imagination. So lately we have been going on a "jungle adventure" around the block. A lot of the neighbors have palm trees and flowers and lots of big plants. One of the neighbors even has a cool patch of tall snake grass lining their drive way. So in order to distranct them from wanting me to carry them (because the exercise is for all of us) we look for wild animals. We often come across sleeping aligators we have to sneak past, friendly monkeys we wave hello to in the trees (sometimes they even come down and sit on our shoulders), big jungle cats we have to run from, slithering snakes that hiss at us as we pass, and lot's of big harry spiders that crawl towards us as we creep by. We have to duck our heads to go through some of the thick low hanging vines and often have to be on the lookout for anything that might attack us.
I love seeing the children use their imagination to come up with fun activities, especially as I see that play continue on just between the 3 of them throughout the day. They really enjoy roll playing and taking turns making up things for eachother to do.....definitely something that makes being a mom so great!

Date night

Saturday night was so much fun (thanks to our wonderful family for being home with the kids) We had a little date night which we don't do all that often. We go out with friends and family quite a bit but not very often on our own as a couple and it was great to have a little one on one time. It was nice to have a little conversation and a little romance and of course a little goofiness. Those are the kind of nights that help us remember why we fell in love in the first place.....not that we forgot, it just gets lost in the shuffle of changing diapers, wiping noses, washes dishes, paying bills, making dinner, picking up toys, etc, etc. I love you Zwabes:)

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

Hooray for the city of Costa Mesa and the Polar Express train ride to the north pole to see santa. We had lots of fun! You can't really beat the California weather in December:)

MY BABY!!!

I love that the girls are now starting to use their imaginations and really play with their toys. They love to play with their babies and their little kitchen set. They are starting to talk for their dolls and pretend that their babies are crying. They are so cute, I love it!

Happy Birthday Princess!!!

Tessa's 2nd Birthday was so much fun, the girls loved dressing up in their princess dresses and shoes. Thanks Shelley and Jason for inviting us and Happy Birthday to Cute little Tessa. Mia and Eva are so happy you are friends. We love you!!!!
